Merry Christmas from the Haslams 2020

The year 2020 was a year like nothing else in our lifetimes. Reed asked his oldest relatives (some in their 90s) if they were told anything about the Spanish flu of 1918-1919. The answer was “No, I know nothing about that."

2020 for us has been one of good health and prosperity. Yes, we were among the lucky ones. Our barrel of blessings clearly overflowed.

While we’ve missed a lot of hugs from children and grandchildren, we had a fun summer in our backyard with our new swimming pool. The kids and grandkids came over a lot during the summer (usually one family at time). The virus clearly does not spread as well outdoors, our kids were mostly wo0rking at home and the grandchildren were out of school, so we felt good about it. We had hoped for even busier time with relatives and friends joining in, but that never happened during 2020.

So that we did not miss the 24th of July Parade, Angela prepared a scaled down version of it with her family performing in front of our house.

We’ve stayed safe by getting groceries delivered from Walmart and Door Dash has brought meals 2-3 times per week. We also did some curbside pickup of meals. Our evenings have been spent with streaming shows from Netflix, Prime Video and Disney, as well as our favorites on television.

Reed intends to retire at some point in 2021, but his keyboard and mouse will stay busy as he has lots of things planned, like finishing his book “My Mission to Thailand”. He also plans to write some software for himself, some of which may make it to market at some point.

Sherry wants to get more fit and have much more time with the grandchildren. She made 4 quilts between November 2019 and May 2020 for the four grandchildren who turned four during that time.

We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a  Happy New Year.
